Playas del Coco is one of the oldest beach communities in Guanacaste. Costa Rica. This magic well known beach towns in the country for both locals and tourists.(slowly, no hurries here). El Coco has many restaurants, stores and some nightlife where you can hear and dance to lots of latin sounds. Walking around town, visiting various shops, eating "tico" style foods on the street and relaxing at the park are great ways to spend a day.

The small park in the center of town where you can get these delicacies called, “copos”. It is a shaved ice cone with powered milk and condensed milk added, very sweet and cold. El Coco still has that small beach town feel, and is not a full-blown “resort” type place, and everything is all in walking distance too!! High speed internet available at internet cafes and most restaurants in Coco.This could be a wonderful wintertime "getaway" for those that want a place to go for 4-5 months and it would be at a very affordable cost. There are several dive shops that offer lessons in town and dives out to some islands and other dive sites. I’ve been told that the marine life is fascinating on these dives. You can also snorkel from the beach and see a lot. There are surf tours to places like Ollie’s Point and Witch’s Rock, and Tamarindo is about an hour’s drive away. There is no surf at the beach here (and no rip tides either) so the beach is safe for swimming and children.

There are also several national parks nearby, great for day trips. Sport fishing which is very popular here in Costa Rica, bird watching and canopy tours are also very popular and nearby. The howler monkeys about a block towards the beach are fun to watch, too.
